Good Afternoon. Unfortunately, we are rained out for today. For those that would like to do a make up, please check your email for more information.
Sorry, Coach Joe Thank you all for your patience and understanding. While we are now allowed to take the court, there are some restrictions that must be in place and strictly enforced. If not, we may lose our ability to continue using the courts. Once we get the OK to loosen restrictions, I will let everyone know.
1. Face coverings/masks will be worn by all students and coaches when coming into and onto the court and when actually not hitting balls/playing tennis. Hand sanitizer and wipes are available at courtside and will be used during our lessons before and after picking up balls and when exiting the court after lessons. Each student will be assigned a clean ball tube prior to the lesson and will use only that tube to pick up balls, when necessary. Social distancing of 6 feet to be maintained at all times between coaches and students. 2. No sharing of water bottles or equipment. All students to provide their own water bottles and equipment. 3. There will be no spectators allowed in the facility for group classes. During a 1 on 1 lesson, a parent or household member may watch from an adjoining court, but be masked at all times. and keep a minimum of 6 feet away from players and coaches. 4. When waiting to come into the court for a class/lesson, please stay in your vehicle with your child until the previous class ends and students leave before entering the facility. starts. We will not be allowing students to be dropped of prior to class and then gather at the front gate. 5. Per FUSD, there will be no restrooms available at this time. Once indoor sports are allowed again (the State of California has ok'd this, but not the district, yet) I assume that we will be able to use the restrooms as the janitorial staff will again be available to clean up. 6. There will be no open play or practice of any type on the courts. The only permitted activities will be private lessons and group classes given by Grech Tennis. Once the district allows us to, we will open things up and perhaps begin open play on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Once again, thank you all for your patience during these very trying last 12 months. I am hoping that I see you all on the courts very soon! If you have any questions, please feel free or give me a call. Kindest Regards, Coach Joe Good Morning Parents,
I received excellent news yesterday. We are now being allowed to return to the courts and begin programming again for Grech Tennis @ Kennedy High School. I want to thank all of the parents and students for all of your support during the last year that we have been off. As we start again, there will be a few changes at first. I will only be doing private lessons and groups of no more than 4 students at any given time. There will be no Saturday doubles match play, but, we may have singles match play if we have enough participants. For those that have participated in our USTA JTT leagues, I spoke with the USTA yesterday and the format will be changing a bit. No one is quite sure yet, but, there will be some type of "team" participation. We should have more information by the middle to end of March for the spring season. We will be observing proper distancing and when not actually playing or hitting balls we will be wearing masks. I suggest that students look into using tennis gloves, if parents are concerned. There will be hand sanitizer to be used before we go on court and a sanitizer station on the court itself. Each student will be given a ball tube for his/her use during the lesson (it will be marked with their number, assigned before class starts) and there will be disinfectant wipes available to wipe it down after every use. As of right now, I am not sure who is willing and/or interested in coming back. I am thinking of beginning lessons again on Saturday March 13th. So, I need everyone who sees this email to get back to me with a preference for a private lesson or a group class or to let me know they will not be coming back I will try and organize my schedule to work around parent's schedules. My plan is to teach Wednesday through Friday 3:30pm to 8:30pm, Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday 8:00am to 2:00pm.However, since we have been gone so long, not sure how this is going to shake out yet. I will try and accommodate all requests, but ask for your patience as we begin again. Please get back to me with your preferences. Also, please let me have your child's name and current age and if they have been playing, the ball color they have been using (Red, Orange, Green or Yellow). Once we begin to firm up a schedule, I will gather credit card info for payment. Once again, thank you all for your patience. Hope to see you on the courts ASAP. Kindest Regards, Coach Joe Grech |
